The 12200 series switches are designed to build small workgroup clusters or to be used as an edge switch in a larger cluster. The 12200 is part of the 12000 series switches, utilizing all of the advanced features found in the family. They are a series of fixed-configuration, externally-managed switches. The 12200 series provides scalable latency, where latency is constant and predictable, even at 90-percent traffic levels. Scalable latency means cluster performance can be tuned during installation and will be predictable at load.
The 12200 takes advantage of QLogic's advanced InfiniBand Fabric Suite (IFS) tools to allow quicker installation and configuration. IFS is equipped with advanced installation and configuration wizards for host software and switches, making fabric deployments of the largest size easy and fast. IFS also has advanced tools to verify fabric configuration, topology and performance. Faults are automatically isolated to the component level and reported. The installation and configuration tools are so powerful, they have been proven to reduce fabric deployment and problem resolution by weeks, which translates into faster time to production and more optimum operation.
Constant monitoring of the cluster is part of the advanced capabilities, allowing administrators to ensure optimum performance.
