The V3000 series is the midrange NetApp heterogeneous storage virtualization solution for enterprise applications. V3000 systems deliver exceptional capabilities for both business and technical applications, across both SAN and NAS environments. Three models are available: V3020, V3040, and V3070. V3000 systems scale to over 500TB of capacity, providing a single architecture and management interface for heterogeneous storage arrays. The V3070 scales to a maximum of 504 LUNs. The V3000 systems are ideally suited for storage consolidation supporting hundreds of applications because they are not only highly scalable but also very flexible. Data can be stored in either file or block format. Supported protocols include FC, NFS, CIFS, HTTP, and iSCSI for the greatest flexibility. The Data ONTAP® 7G operating system includes two standard features, FlexVol® and FlexShare™, which improve the effectiveness of consolidation. FlexVol creates volumes that can be readily expanded or contracted while reducing the need for spare capacity. FlexShare enables the consolidation of disparate workloads by ensuring that critical workloads get fast response. V3000 systems can be used for SAN-based and/or NAS-based applications and for primary or secondary storage. A full range of high-availability and disaster recovery options are offered with the V3000 series. However, NetApp goes beyond the data center baseline for availability. Active-active controller configurations enable continuous access to data by automatically failing over to an additional V-Series controller without data loss. Similarly, the NetApp implementation of Snapshot™ copies has no performance impact and requires very little incremental storage, so Snapshot copies can be created frequently. The result is unparalleled application-level availability with recovery in minutes, not hours, after a failure or human error. NetApp supports a complete Fibre Channel SAN infrastructure with a full range of certified hosts, adapters, switches, and directors. The V3000 systems are also capable of 4Gb FC SAN
