The Nexsan E60™, a member of the Flexible Storage Platform™, is a next generation high-density and energy-efficient storage system, upping the ante over previous generations by delivering a storage solution that accommodates 60 disks. It provides 180TBs in only 4U and, thanks to Nexsan's AutoMAID® level 4 technology, reduces energy costs by up to 85% - making it the most energy-efficient, enterprise-class storage system on the market.
The E60 contains four 8Gbit Fibre Channel ports, with the ability in the future to add a second IO card, and two 1Gbit iSCSI ports to deliver more bandwidth and connectivity. The E60 seamlessly combines SATA, SAS, and SSD drives to give IT administrators a high degree of flexibility, and its innovative active drawer technology allows the E60 to be safely serviced by one person while remaining in full production - a significant improvement over competitive systems that typically require several people to replace a single disk or fan.
As with all Nexsan solutions, the E60 is built for enterprise-class applications, providing tier-1 full redundancy and high performance at tier- 2 prices. It's veryeasy to install and use. And the E60 includes technologies that provide a combination of cost-effective high density, space efficiency and Nexsan'sAutoMAID® (Massive Array of Idle Disks) level 4 energy-saving technology, which enables the E60 to save up to 85% in energy costs.

The powerful Nexsan E-Series™ RAID controller contains 4GB of battery backed cache with up to four 8Gbit Fibre Channel ports and four 1Gbit iSCSI ports that can be used simultaneously. By utilizing SATA, SAS, or SSD drives, users can use the E60 to meet capacity or performance driven applications.
The E60 boasts the most revolutionary approach to extreme density management with its unique Active Drawer Technology™ Three self-contained disk drawers include 20 SAS/SATA disk drives with tachometer controlled push/pull fan modules. Specially designed cables enable continuous operation even when a drawer is momentarily pulled out to perform easy disk and fan service. Overcoming the challenges of other extreme density offerings, the E60 is safely and easily serviced by one person.
With blazing wire-speed read/write throughput and high IOPS performance, the E60 is the perfect choice for data intensive requirements. The E60 also provides exceptional data protection and fault tolerance as all active components are fully redundant and hot-swappable. Top-tier mechanical design efficiently removes heat and vibration from the chassis to ensure the E60 meets and exceeds the most stringent reliability demands.
Nexsan’s exclusive AutoMAID® level 4 technology delivers up to 85% energy savings. Each disk group can easily be assigned a power savings policy with the Web-based management interface. When a disk group is not accessed for a specified time period, it can be put into a lower power-consuming state, saving up to 85% on power and cooling bills. For instance, in scientific computing applications, when workers go home, disks can be powered down. On first access, they are spun up and stay spinning. In backup to disk applications, drives can be powered down when backups are not being performed. No changes to applications or manual intervention is required to get the benefits of AutoMAID level 4.
The NexScan® management interface is built into the E60 controller, alleviating the need to have a separate server or application manage the storage array. This sophisticated, browser-based management GUI monitors and reports the status of all E60 components over an IP network and includes a phone-home feature for notification of system status.
Common applications for the E60 include: Data Protection - storing large amounts of local data backups on disk instead of tape as well as storing a copy of data offsite. Long-term, Bulk Storage - maintaining large amounts of information online. For performance driven applications, IT professionals can leverage SAS drives in the E60 for their Tier-1 instances.
