McDATAs Intrepid FICON Converter (IFC) provides a cost-effective solution for attaching ESCON peripherals directly to FICON channels. The IFC helps customers protect existing ESCON investments while allowing them to migrate to new, higher speed FICON mainframes and operating systems. The IFC enables companies to increase performance, improve efficiencies and reduce costs in a number of ways. First, it increases the speed of application deployment on higher-speed processors. It also eliminates the need to purchase legacy ESCON channels and saves host I/O by eliminating ESCON ports. McDATAs IFC knocks down rising maintenance costs by removing legacy ESCON directors. And it improves operational efficiency by slashing the support requirements for legacy infrastructure.
